lyrics

Coming from the fair city where there’s bare knuckle scraps
Seen it all from the streets to the stairs up the flats
Some say it ain’t where you’re from it’s where you’re at
Got the pedal to the mat trying to put us on the map

Come from different fabric I don’t cut slack; I fly the flag
Done a lot since I was a rugrat but I don’t like to brag
Seen pumps and techs with air-holes like their missing dust caps
On youngs bloods who’ll stick you up like thumb tacks by using sleight of hand

A lot had screws missing like abandoned jailhouses
Flying high for ages but the landing broke the ground around the ones who played the most foul
Moving like a wolf deep in the night I heard a ghost howl
I was on deaths door; I had to switch the profile

Here for a reason tamed a beast it was ready to go wild
I couldn’t leave my soul idle
‘Cause that’s a playground for disaster to master its grip
Now I sail this vessel had to harbour the mast on this ship

Don’t like what I’m saying? Then you can’t handle the truth
There’s cops lynching red handed as they strangle the youth
Strange fruits are still hanging on the branches from roots
Of where it stems from throwing up their fascist salutes

I keep that black flag on me like I’m bandana P
Standing strong like my family tree
I thank the salt of the earth who brought me to land from the sea
Things were as bad as can be
Another chance is what I’m thankful to see

But around here people weigh their options up can’t manage either
It’s hot as hell the sweat could freeze you so don’t catch a fever
Rain falls on dampened features helps to plant the reaper
And if God is judging we ain’t got a proper chance to meet her

So fuck you yuppies with your stature and your flash demeanour
When my people yearn for pastures where the grass is greener
Workers, intellectuals, artists and avid readers
All diminished and branded as savages and pallid dreamers

The average man has shorter pockets but his hands are deeper
Taxed past the meter thanks to families who regard their seniors
The Rebel Mafia’s for the people can’t starve or beat us
Our hearts are keener and we challenge all your stark procedures

Young underachievers who grew to humble sharks and leaders
Who won’t abandon those who mean the most for chartered cons
We’re sovereign to this land don’t let government vagabonds
And marauders come to slaughter and corrupt the path we’re on

This is published by the public all for one and one for all
Don’t fall asunder, uplift ‘cause winter longs for summers call
Corruption floods the Dáil
It’s time we rise and coincide with others hungry for a change until we see their numbers fall

A revolution is in order I’ll provide the smoke
The mind of a Rebel cannot be caged, not the slightest hope
We hold a fire inside our hearts you and I are woke
The spectrums much broader than you think like a kaleidoscope
